Communication Styles

In learning about the different communication styles (controlling, analyzing, facilitating, and advocating) I came to realize how important it is to be aware of what my style is, to what degree I am appearing negotiable and accessible, and how effectively I am sending and receiving messages. It is also important to find out what my client's style is, and what can I do to adapt my style to theirs. This information can also come in handy in conversations with my clients about how their communication styles show up with their colleagues and relationships. The following cheatsheets and excerpts from Carlson's Perceptive Communications assessment are helpful handouts to keep on hand.
