The "Reflect back"

During a coaching onsite intensive session, after many simulations, projects and

exercises, one tactic stood out as something all clients found very valuable and helpful: reflecting back to the client what I understood from what they shared.

Whether it is throughout the meeting to check understanding or at the end of the meeting to wrap it up and send the client off with some takeaways, sharing what you heard them say back with them allows them to first asses if their message has been received the way they intended it or if they need to re-articulate or clarify. Sometimes, hearing back what they said allows them to further process it and asses it. Reflecting back is like packaging everything the client expressed to you in a transparent snow globe that they can then observe from a distance less affected by certain cognitive biases that may have been influencing those thoughts when they first expressed them.
